Sometimes, okay, all the time, my family groans when I make a reference to American Idol, and now The X Factor, as metaphorical in some way. But that is how I see it. People just stand up on a stage and dare to be themselves, and then frequently they are surprised to find that even if they are unusual and quite different from the rest of us, it is applauded. I love that notion. Daring to be yourself and finding others welcoming it. Even if it’s just about your clothes, or your weird hairdo, or the way you love transition sentences.
Just showing up every day and being yourself is worthwhile. Who knows, maybe you’re cool.
