Whenever I see pretend crying I wish for the mom or dad to recognize what it really is. It is really a legitimate cry for something in a boring old package no one wants to hear.

In case you cannot tell the difference here is a tip. If the babe crying can be distracted away from it by something more interesting, it is probably not real. If the babe cries regardless of what is going on around him, it is likely authentic.

So when you hear fake crying know that it is likely a request for attention, or a statement of boredom, or a desire for closeness or any number of things that cannot be expressed directly for some reason. Maybe you could give that some consideration and test out a few of those ideas next time you hear fake crying.

Change things up a little and see if trying a new tack doesn’t create new joys.
