In tenth grade today the very girl that refused to work with me earlier this year was ready to go today. She and three of her classmates raised their hands in answer to the question, “Who would like to work with Mrs. Butler.” Around about the third quarter of the school year kids start to realize that the lady who shows up periodically claiming she can help them get better grades on their essays just by spending literally ten seconds reading the first few lines, means it!

And as happens every year, kids were suddenly engaged and interested in learning how to write their papers. It apparently takes that much of a school year to discover that you could use some help.

Teenagers are tough.
