I come out of first period at the high school today thinking teenagers that are oppressed by their parents should rise up and fight back. Kids come to school whose home lives are in such turmoil, and offer such unpredictability and counter-productivity, that they cannot focus on their work. It is understandable that they do not want to invest in the moment with me. It all seems so useless compared with the bigger issues they are forced to face just within the confines of their homes, the place that should be a haven from life’s troubles.

So I dream of inspiring children to refuse to allow the adults of the world to steal their power to get an education, the very thing they need to be independent from those who disrespect their place on earth.
